Frequently Asked Questions
play_arrow How does it work?
We film all the games at an event for the age divisions we have listed. You can order copies of those games to watch anytime within your NLV account and use the film to create a highlight reel of the athlete. Film is the #1 recruiting tool used by collegiate coaches to evaluate a player. Best practice is to build up a library of game film and put together a short 2-3 minute video of an athletes best plays. Any film ordered from us can be cut up and used to create a reel on your end. For those that are not as tech savy, we offer services where our team edits the reel for you. It can be made from any film you order from NLV as well as any film you own and can submit!
play_arrow Can I edit the film myself?
All of our videos are fully editable and delivered in either a .MOV file or a .MP4 file format with an H.264 Codec. Full game downloads (only available with multi-user licensed packages) will be delivered as a .MP4 file. All clips generated and downloading from game film will be delivered as .MOV files
play_arrow Can I download the film?
The way you download your video depends on the license you purchased. With a Team Package you get multi-user license meaning you can watch it streaming online anytime, download the full game file at once, or use our online clipping tool to splice out your athletes specific clips and download just those. With our single-user license you can only use the clipping tool and watch the game streaming. All cut up clips can be used in any editing software and in no way stops you from creating a highlight reel of the athlete. All games remain on our systems indefinitely and can be cut up or watched anytime. You will also be able to download any completed highlight reel if purchased and made by our editors.
play_arrow Why do college coaches use film?
Plain and simple it increases exposure during the recruiting process. Coaches have limited time and budgets to view high school players. They are limited by NCAA regulations as to the amount of communication they can have with a player and are even subject to blackout periods where they cannot view tournaments or programs. During these periods they watch footage - more specifically, highlight reels of players, a compilation of their best overall plays from multiple games only a couple of minutes in length, approximately 15-20 plays total. At tournaments, there are only so many athletes a coach can see and often the coach’s assistants are sent to help with scouting. The coach’s assistant will take notes on players and report back to the coach. Having the ability to compare notes with actual game footage, or better yet, a highlight reel, is crucial in the recruiting process.
play_arrow How does film help me get recruited?
Film, specifically an edited highlight reel, is a powerful tool in the modern recruiting process. It showcases your BEST plays from a potentially vast amount of material and efficiently allows college coaches to see what you're capable of. Film is not the end all be all in the recruiting process as there are many other variables involved, but there's NO DOUBT that it's become a necessity in modern recruiting. Film will also allow for you to send the plays of your choice to the coaches and schools you are most interested in. Coaches will not be able to attend every game and tournament, so sending them your film is the best way to put your athlete in front of college coaches and recruiters.
play_arrow Turnaround Time - How long does it take to receive footage?
All footage will be sent within 14 days or less from the ENDING point of the event. It typically takes a few days, but again we stress it can take up to 14 days. It is possible that we will film over 1000 games including multiple events in once weekend. The number of games filmed in a weekend could dictate the turnaround time, footage will be made available within 14 days from the conclusion of the event.
play_arrow Why do I need video?
Why do you NEED video? Plain and simple it increases exposure during the recruiting process. Coaches have limited time and budgets to view players in person. Having the ability to compare notes with actual game footage, or better yet, a highlight reel, is crucial in the recruiting process.
play_arrow Can I still order, is it too late?
Yes! You can order anytime before or after the event. We have orders from events that took place years ago! Any game that NLV recorded is on file and always available. Prices increase when an event ends so make sure to order before to lock in our reduced "Early-Bird" rates. Please also note that film stores will close 30 days after the event! Film can still be ordered, but you will need to contact our sales team at [email protected] to order film from closed store.
play_arrow Can I update the reel in the future?
Of course, but there is a fee. There is no such thing as a non-editable video file. Once we create the video it can always be altered - plays removed, new ones added, re-arranged, title card info updated and so on. If you have already received your finished highlight reel, we recommend contacting us directly and we can quote the custom work, or work with you on a entirely new second reel.
play_arrow Can I use Footage NOT filmed by NLV in my Highlight Reel? How do I get it to you?
Yes! Your highlight reel can be made from any film you own. It can be made from footage you order from NLV, any film you send us or both! How do you get it to us? When you order a highlight reel we have an uploader where you can drag and drop files that upload directly to us. You must have the file downloaded as either a .MP4 or .MOV file on your device. As long as you own the rights to the film, we can use it.
play_arrow Does NLV Film from an Elevated Position?
Unless otherwise noted in the main description at the top of the event product page, NLV will film all games from an elevated angle.
play_arrow Does NLV zoom in on one player?
We do not zoom in on one player individually, we film the game as a whole from a medium to wide shot following the action. Matches recorded being zoomed in on one player is useless from a coaching and recruiting standpoint. Off-ball play is just as important as the ball carrier and its crucial to see the play develop. If you prefer close-up shots, game film can always be zoomed in during the editing process, but not the other way around! If you are involved in the play, you will be covered!
play_arrow Do I get ALL the games at the event or just my teams?
Just your teams. It should technically be the "All your teams game package" but that seems a bit wordy. Purchasing an "All Games" package will give you all the games for one team. This includes any playoff, championship, and all-star game(s) for that event unless otherwise noted. If your athlete plays on multiple teams, contact us to set up a custom package for you.
play_arrow Do you just go through and find my best plays? You're the pros you know what you're doing...
You will need to supply the time stamps to us from each play/game you want used. Choosing highlights is too subjective and there is no right or wrong answer. The best person to choose which plays to use is the athlete themselves as no one knows their game play better.
play_arrow How does a Team Package work?
The Team package is hands down the most cost-effective way to purchase film. It comes with a multi-user license meaning multiple players can access and use the footage, so it’s one flat rate that you can split with other players on the team, saving up to 85% off the individual package pricing! It includes a copy of every game your team plays in at the event; including any playoff, championship, or all-star games, unless otherwise noted. Sharing the film with others splitting the order is simple. The purchaser logs into their NLV account and can paste the email addresses of everyone who is a part of the order. They will get an email notifying them they have the film and how to access it! Games are then immediately available to watch streaming online from any device, even mobile! You can also download and save an editable copy! All participants involved in the team package will also get a discount on an NLV produced and edited highlight reel which can be made from this film as well as any other footage.
play_arrow How do I access my free film on Next Level Video?

play_arrow How do I download the footage?
They way you download your video depends on the license you purchased. All games remain on our systems indefinitely and can be cut up or watched anytime.
play_arrow How Do I Submit Plays or Additional Footage for a Highlight Reel?
Submitting your time index as well as additional footage not shot by NLV to our editors is simple and can be done through your NLV account. Once logged in, click on "Dashboard". From here, you can oversee and submit everything pertaining to your highlight reel order. Select the "Highlight Reels" tab and follow the on screen prompts to input information and upload your video files. Please note, if your footage lives on HUDL, Krossover, or another similar platform, you will need to download it from there and then send it to us. We will not log in to your account.
Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. If our editors have any questions, they will contact you. When the first draft of your highlight reel is complete, you will receive email notification prompting you to log in and review your reel.
play_arrow How do you know what player to film?
We record every game on every field, unless otherwise noted. We follow the ball not the player and film wide enough to capture all the off-ball action as well. As long as your athlete is involved in the play, we got it! After the event you choose your team from a list of the teams, and all of your teams game film will appear!
play_arrow How do you know what team I am on / which game I want?
Unless otherwise noted, we film ALL games/matches on ALL Fields/Courts for the entire event or specific divisions, typically athletes in high school divisions. Please read the event product description to see what is being auto covered at your event. If you're playing in one of those noted divisions, your team's matches are going to be filmed and we don't need to know in advance - so you are all set even if you didn't tell us. Ordering in advance will allow you to take advantage of our "early-bird" rates.
After the event, we will notify you when the film is processed and when the footage is ready. From there, log into your account and follow the prompts to choose your team and which game(s) you want!
play_arrow How hard is it to edit / what program do you recommend?
Editing is a skill like anything else, it depends on your skillset. If you know what you're doing its easy, if you don't its hard. There are so many video editing programs and our video files will work with any of them - there is no right or wrong, just personal preference.
play_arrow How long does it take to get the highlight reel?
That depends on your interaction with us. We advertise 10 business days or less from the point at which you submit the information needed to our editing team. Once you place an order there is a form in your account to fill out which gives our editors the info they need to start. The faster you get in your form, the faster we get it back. The biggest hold up is when people submit their form, mark that they are sending their own additional footage, then send that additional footage a week later. We start when EVERYTHING is received.
play_arrow I didn't get my Team Package Invite
The most common issue is users are checking an alternative email address than the one they provided to the person who ordered the team package. For example, if your email is [email protected] and your checking [email protected], you won't see the email. Regardless, you don't actually need the Team Package email as it does not contain a file, all it does is prompt you to log in to our website. Log in to NLVproductions.com (if you don't have an account, make one using the same email address that was provided to the person who ordered the team package) and the system will know to give you access to the footage! In your dashboard click "team packages" and then the blue "accept" button.
play_arrow I just want highlights, do I have to buy the film also?
Yes and no. NLV sells two things, game footage and the SERVICE of editing a highlight reel. We can edit a highlight reel from any footage you supply to us but if you want to use footage shot by NLV you will first need to purchase the rights. The analogy we use is its like buying the ingredients to make the meal.
play_arrow Is there a discount for multiple events? Where else will you be?
A big fat YES! If we cross paths more than once or you have multiple teams/kids in the same event contact our sales team to set up a custom rate. You can review our events page to see a list of upcoming and past events.
play_arrow What is the difference between a single-user license and a multi-user license?
When you purchase film you receive a single or multi-user license which represent the number of people allowed to access and use the footage.
Team packages are the ONLY product sold by NLV that comes with a multi-user license. This license grants the purchaser permission to share the footage with every athlete on their team for use in promotional videos and highlight reels. Security restrictions are removed and we provide built in functionality in our website to easily share the footage. In simplified terms, you are allowed to and can easily share footage with members of your team that are splitting the purchase with you.
For all video footage purchases that are NOT Team Packages, NLV grants you a single-user license. With this purchase, you are allowed to use footage for personal, non-commercial, internal use only. In other words - you may not share this footage with any other athlete on your or your child’s team or use it to create a promotional video for your team - or a highlight reel for any athlete other than you, or your child - if the purchaser is a parent, guardian, relative, friend or coach. You may watch the full game online streaming anytime but the full game file download option is restricted. You can clip out and download the plays of your athlete for editing a recruiting reel using our online tool.
play_arrow What is the difference between Standard and Premier Highlights?
NLV offers two highlight reel packages. Standard and Premier. Both packages can be made from any film we produce as well as any additional footage you may wish to submit.
The standard package includes an introductory bio screen, up to 15 plays which will appear in the order you list them AND an isolation spot-shadow graphics on every play.
The premier package includes a title card, up to 20 plays, a complimentary round of re-arrangements (due within 7 days of receiving the first draft), additional isolation effects such as tracker graphics that follow a player as he or she move throughout each play. Premier is ideal for those looking for that extra level of support, customization, and enhanced graphic effects to make the player really stand out.

play_arrow What team was I on? Who do I pick from the list?

If its a team based event select the club team you played for. If your team has multiple teams participating in the event please make sure you read carefully as we label them exactly as they appeared on the schedule.
